hippopothomas: wow. hopefully you dont forget how to type on your work keyboard. Aug 30, 2010 at 11:18PM
david?: i actually think it'll help me remember how to type on a standard keyboard. during the day i'll be typing as usual, at night i'll be using the new layout. given enough time, i should be able to type on either without any problem.
and no, i didn't get a new laptop. Aug 31, 2010 at 09:05AM
mik3: I used dvorak for a while. I didn;t use it long enough to feel the effects. My friend still uses it tho. But he's lame, so he doesn't count. Aug 31, 2010 at 10:52AM
hippopothomas: i'm not sure of the reason it was invented, and i'm too lazy to google, but i assume it's to group more commonly typed letters together Aug 31, 2010 at 11:42AM
david?: joe is correct. the original qwerty keyboard layout was invented to keep typewriters from jamming (often). dvorak was created for speed. and apparently reduces RSI and CTS as well (although the wikipedia article needs citation for that) - http://bit.ly/bJ2cC5 Aug 31, 2010 at 01:27PM
Cramp: Now that you mention that, I do recall hearing that explanation before. So, do you type faster now? Aug 31, 2010 at 01:28PM
Tracy: list out common words that one can spell from the home row keys!
